Mighton Construction: A Wasaga Beach family builder since 1992
Meet Mighton Construction, a family-run Wasaga Beach builder of custom homes, cottages, additions and renovations across South Georgian Bay since 1992.

Most home projects start with an ordinary question. Is there room for a growing family? Could the cottage work year-round? Would an addition fix what a new kitchen can't? The answer usually involves more than a floor plan or a finish.
For Mighton Construction, a family-run custom home builder based in Wasaga Beach, those questions are the daily business. The company builds custom homes and cottages, adds garages and additions, and takes on whole-home renovations along with kitchens, bathrooms and basements. It works across Wasaga Beach and the surrounding South Georgian Bay communities, including Collingwood, Clearview, Tiny Township, The Blue Mountains and Springwater.
A family business, three decades in
Mighton Construction began as a sole proprietorship in 1992 and incorporated as Mighton Construction Limited in 2006. Founder and president Jeff Mighton now runs the company with his son Adam, the chief operating officer and project manager, who brings a CPA background to the budgeting and scheduling side of the work.
The firm's local roots show up in less expected places, too. In 2023 the team built a gingerbread-house float for the Wasaga Beach Santa Claus Parade, and photos of it still sit on the company's website alongside its homes and renovations.
The work has drawn recognition. The South Georgian Bay Building Association named Mighton its 2026 Custom Home Builder of the Year, and the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce named it 2025 Trades Business of the Year. It was also a 2026 Canadian Choice Award winner for General Contractor of the Year in Wasaga Beach.
New builds and existing homes
A new home and a renovation can end in similar-looking rooms, but they start from very different places. With new construction, the layout, structure and building systems are planned together from day one. With an existing house, every change has to work with what is already there, including conditions nobody can see until the walls are open.
Mighton's range covers both. Alongside conventional framing, it builds with insulated concrete forms (ICF), and its portfolio includes waterfront homes and cottages, Blue Mountain chalets and composite decks. The company also builds and renovates churches, a less common specialty for a residential builder.
A deliberately small workload
The company says it caps the number of projects it takes on each year, around eight to 10 custom homes and major renovations, so that Jeff and Adam can stay personally involved in every job.
That kind of hands-on approach matters most in the early conversations, before any work starts. For homeowners weighing any builder, a few questions help: Who will be the day-to-day contact? What information is needed before a price can be firm? How are changes documented? A preliminary budget and a fixed price on a defined scope are different things, and two estimates that look alike can cover very different work.
For renovations, it is worth asking what has been inspected, what is still unknown and how surprises will be handled. For additions and new homes, site conditions and design coordination belong in the discussion well before a start date is set.
Starting with a shared plan
Whether the goal is a new cottage, an addition or a better layout in a house that has served a family for years, the strongest projects begin with a plan everyone can describe the same way. For a builder that has spent more than 30 years in Wasaga Beach, that starting point is where the work begins.
