Sourcing and attribution
- We report from public records, official releases, interviews, event organizers and reader tips we can confirm.
- We never copy or rewrite another outlet's story. When another outlet breaks news, we credit and link to them.
- Every story lists its sources at the bottom.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help summarize public documents and draft short stories. A person reviews every story: checks facts against the original source, edits for accuracy and fairness, and decides whether it's published. Stories drafted with AI help are markedAI-assisted. We do not use AI-generated photos of real people or events.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and add a note to the story explaining what changed. To report an error, request a correction.
Independence
Advertisers and directory customers do not get coverage, approval of stories, or the ability to remove critical reporting.
Sponsored content and paid placements
- Sponsored stories are paid for by the named sponsor, produced separately from the newsroom, and labelled at the top of the page.
- Spotlight and Featured directory listings appear first in their category. Most are paid; any listing that is paid for is also marked Sponsored. We occasionally give these placements at no charge (for example to launch partners), and those are not marked Sponsored.
- Promoted events are paid placements on the events calendar.
- Verified means we confirmed the person managing a listing runs the business. It is not an endorsement.
- Links in paid placements use
rel="sponsored". Other directory links to business websites and profiles userel="nofollow": listing a business is not an endorsement of its website. Links our newsroom chooses to include in stories and guides are normal links.
